We have a fantastic, dedicated and experienced team at both our Sheffield and Luton dealerships but we thought we’d shine the spotlight on our newest addition to the team, Sheffield Service Manager, Tony Scott.
So, what does your role involve?
It’s quite a diverse role. Overall it’s about keeping the service department of Mike Brewer Motors running smoothly and efficiently.
In more detail, I’m responsible for overseeing our team of vehicle technicians and ensuring that they are up-to-date with their training and ahead of the curve when it comes to developments in car maintenance, repairs and manufacturing.
I plan our workflow management, ensuring that service levels are as high for our customers as possible, but also efficient and timely. I also set pricing and ensure that our customers get the best value for money.
Finally, I’m responsible for recruitment, which means finding the best, qualified technicians to join our team and ensuring that they enjoy the best possible working environment.
What’s your background?
I’ve worked in the motor trade for 31 years, with 15 of those years as a Service/Aftersales Manager.
I have worked for both independent and franchised dealerships, starting my career as a Vehicle Technician and then working my way up the ladder to become a Service Manager.
I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved throughout my career so far and I’ve made a real impact in my previous roles but what really appealed to me about joining Mike Brewer Motors was the opportunity to put my stamp on a younger dealership that’s really going places.
We’ve already made waves in our first three years of trading and with the opening of Luton, we’ve made the next step towards launching a UK-wide chain. The brand, the approach, the ethos is really exciting and I’m proud to be part of it early on in the journey.
Tell us a little bit about you away from the dealership!
I like nothing better than a spot of DIY and gardening. I’m very hands on – I guess that’s why I started out as a vehicle technician – and I love to be out in the fresh air!
Like many motor enthusiasts, I’d love to see myself in a Nissan GTR. I don’t want anything too flash, just a car that does 0-60 in 2.9 seconds!!!
Working in a customer-facing role and also managing staff can take its toll after a few months so a holiday in the Maldives is on my bucket list.
However, if that’s too much to ask, I’d settle for the beach without a phone signal… a weekend to Skegness it is then!
And your final word?
My goal is to increase the efficiency of the service department and to make the department a valuable asset to the Mike Brewer Motors brand. My aim is to do this not by charging our customers a premium but to create a working process that ensures that all jobs are done to the highest standard in the time agreed with the customer. And you can hold me to that!
