Meet Tim and Nathan! They work in the Advertising Team at our used car dealership in Sheffield. We caught up with them to find out what a typical day at Mike Brewer Motors is like for them.
How long have you worked at Mike Brewer Motors in Sheffield?
Tim: I’ve had a number of varied and interesting roles at Mike Brewer Motors since joining in 2013. I started off as a Valet Supervisor and after about 18 months I moved into the Progress Chaser position. After that, I was assisting the sales team and assessing the condition of the part exchange cars that we bought. Then I joined the advertising team in 2017!
Nathan: I’ve been here for nearly 3 years and I’ve worked in the advertising team since I joined.
What did you do before joining Mike Brewer Motors?
Nathan: I did something completely different to what I do now – I was a sports coach in a primary school! I’ve always loved taking photos and a friend of mine also worked at Mike Brewer Motors, he told me about the vacancy in the advertising team and I decided to go for it and applied!
Tim: I was a Valeter & Driver at a large franchise dealer group.
What’s a typical day like for you in the advertising department?
Tim: It varies from day to day and it’s either busy or very busy! It all depends on the number of cars that come in to stock each day. The jobs will change throughout the day, for instance if the sales team request extra photos or a video of a car for a customer then that job will be made the top priority.
Nathan and I photograph the cars for sale and we try to take as many photos as possible to capture all the features. Once we have edited the photos, we add them to our website as well as the other websites where we advertise our cars, such as Autotrader.
Nathan: I focus on photographing our cars for the website as well as for our Instagram account. I work closely with our valeting team and at the start of each week I’ll give Ellick, the Valet Manager, a list of cars that we want to photograph for the week. We also have a Videographer at our Sheffield dealership, so we have to communicate closely and co-ordinate our schedules with each other.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Tim: I like the variety, and we are always looking for new ways to improve and to make the photos look different so that the cars stand out. Our motto is ‘work smarter, not harder’.
Nathan: I enjoy taking the photos for Instagram because I get to be a bit more creative with those and it’s a great feeling when I know that my photos have helped to sell the cars.
What’s been your favourite car to photograph?
Nathan: A Jaguar XJ that we sold recently – it was full of tech inside, with TVs and massaging seats. It was an amazing car!
What do you like to do outside of work?
Tim: I like to spend time with my family and take my nieces and nephews on fun days out.
Nathan: Socialising and I play football at the weekends. Like Tim, I also like to treat my nieces and nephews!
What is your dream car to own?
Nathan: That’s a tough question, but I think it would have to be a Range Rover Sport!
